Application

The Mary Ellen Dolcini Scholarship Foundation is pleased to offer higher education scholarships for High School students (a graduating senior from Davis Senior HS, ML King HS, Woodland Senior HS, Winters HS, Esparto HS, or Pioneer HS) who best meet the following criteria:

  1. Mexican-American heritage;
  2. A Senior in good standing
  3. Minimum 2.5 GPA, with improving grades in junior and senior years.
  4. Participation in an extracurricular activity.
  5. Participation in community service.
  6. Expected family contribution (as determined on the FAFSA/Cal Grant) under $20,000.
  7. Scholarship must be used toward an accredited 2-year or 4-year college, vocational school or other accredited program; and
  8. Submit a previously written essay (i.e., Common Application essay or UC Personal Insight question response that reveals who you are or the background where you have come from OR a recent personal essay of 500 words or less describing your personal goals and professional ambitions after high school.).

Amount: $2,500-$10,000 (dependent on recipient’s choice of 4yr, 2yr, or vocational program)

About the Mary Ellen Dolcini Scholarship Foundation

The Mary Ellen Dolcini Scholarship Foundation was formed to fulfill the wishes of Mary Ellen Dolcini who passed away in 2018. Ms. Dolcini was a life-long resident and career educator in Davis, California. She left portion of her estate to provide scholarships to Mexican-American high school graduates from Davis and Woodland to pursue a college education. The Board of Directors of The Mary Ellen Dolcini Scholarship Foundation aims to carry out Ms. Dolcini's wishes and will select four (4) worthy candidates each year from Davis and Woodland High Schools. Students will be selected based on need, merit, and overall performance in high school including extracurricular activities and recommendations.

Application Procedure:

Please submit the documents listed below:

  • Completed application form (completed legibly and in blue or black ink).
  • Essay (previously written).
  • Unofficial copy of your High School transcript.
  • Two letters of recommendation from a High School teacher, counselor, or administrator.
  • FAFSA or Cal Grant cover page that lists your expected family contribution.
